Oprah Winfrey, a most popular television anchoress met the love of her life nearly 25 years ago in the year 1986 in a charity event held in Chicago just after Winfrey shifted from Baltimore to Chicago. Presently Oprah Winfrey is residing with her boyfriend in a condominium located at the Chicago Gold Coast.
Stedman Graham, in interview on the famous show ‘Larry King Live’, declared that the relationship between the two was not exactly the case of love at first sight. Both the celebrities were considered to be good friends for a couple of years before the element of love and romance entered into the realationship.
It was a nice summer afternoon on the tenth of November when Oprah Winfrey was hanging out with her best friend and also a house guest, the famous news and T.V host Gayle King Bumpus in her farm house located in Indiana. The two of them were anxiously waiting for the man of her life who was about to bring in the tape of her at that time new show ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ directly from Chicago. The lady was very excited to see her first ever television show but it happened out that they could not watch the show that night.
When Stedman Graham arrived at the farmhouse, Oprah Winfrey went to meet him outside and came back with a mixture of emotions. The words she spoke to Gayle King at that time were “You are not going to belive this. Stedman Graham just proposed!”
Revising the meeting between the two, Stedman proposed Winfrey to which she replied positively in a surprising tone and planned to marry in the year 1993 without setting any date. For the next couple of days or nearly a month’s period both of them managed to not to publicly announce about the newly made relationship. Only a couple of close friends came to knew about the relationship including Gayle King Bumpus.
Soon the couple declared their relatioship status on local newspapers and television shows and declared the engagement ceremony between the two of them. With the outbursting of this news, all the newspapers and television channels waited anxiuosly for their marrige date to which the couple repied a period of six years. Later on it came to know that the engagement has been cancelled and the couple has decided to continue living like a married couple and that marriage is merely a piece of paper.
The reason for the cancellation of this marriage event was given by Oprah Winfrey as a point of freedom. She was in the view that if the two holds themselves in a wedlock, the expectations of Stedman Graham regarding me and my career would change significantly.
Stedman’s unconditional love and affection towards Winfrey has kept the two of them togethr for more than two decades. Although Stedman is popularly known as the boyfriend to Oprah Winfrey, he is quite reluctant to it and has no issues regarding this matter. “The main thing that matters me is to be with Winfrey” said Stedman Graham in a television interview.
